July 2026 T2 New York
Labeled, "Aegidius Kloz in Mitten, wald an der Iser 17..." and, "Uit de collectie van Joh. Stüber, den Haag Atelier Voor Vioolbouw."
According to the consignor, this viola was played by a German refugee who hid in Holland during WWII. She and her husband, also a violist, were good friends of the consignor's father. During the War, they were close to Anne Frank's family, but were fortunate to survive and subsequently to emigrate to the US, where for many years prior to their death they were avid chamber musicians.
